Kids Soccer Safety Guidelines

Explain Rules/Instructions Clearly As some kids may have never played soccer before, always demonstrate the proper way to play by example before asking a child to perform a task. Also, the rules of soccer are in place to protect all players, including children, from the natural hazards of the sport.Use shin guards Whether kicking around for fun in practice or in youth game scenarios a stray kick could easily turn painful for your child, not only potentially resulting in injury but causing him or her to play with fear instead of fun at heart.Maintain adult supervision Both for safety concerns and swift dispute resolution, children should always be chaperoned on the soccer field.Beware of stranger danger Remind kids that though public soccer fields are generally safe places, in some instances they could be approached by an adult they do not know. Similar practices for playing outside should make their way to soccer as well.Consider allergies Outside allergies and food allergies should be taken into careful consideration. Many youth soccer teams will have a parent bring in snacks and treats for the team on a weekly basis. Be sure to coordinate with other parents what it is safe for each child to eat and drink.
